4 killed‚ 34 injured as bus veers off road in Dhading


DHADING: Four people were killed and 34 others injured when a passenger bus (Na 4 Kha 6170) veered off the road and fell down on the bank of Trishuli River at Pida VDC–2, Ghatbesi of Dhading on Friday pre-dawn darkness.

Three of the victims,including two Indian nationals, in the fatal bus fall along the Prithvi Highway have been identified, according to police. All four were killed on the spot.

The bus driver, identified with his first name Raju only, was also among the deceased. The Indian nationals have been identified as Mukhiya Thakur (32) of Motihari and Urmila Devi Singh of Baishali.

Identification of the fourth victim is yet to be ascertained.

Injured are undergoing treatment at the Gajuri-based hospital.

According to police, the ill-fated bus was heading to Kathmandu from Birgunj before it met with the fatal accident in the pre-dawn darkness.

The cause of the accident is not known.
