I won't take any steps against constitution: Prez

KATHMANDU, MAR 01 - President Ram Baran Yadav has made it clear that he will not take any steps against the interim constitution.

The president said so during his meeting with the office bearers of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) on Friday evening, NBA President Hari Krishna Karki informed. The delegation of Nepali lawyers handed over a memorandum to the president urging him not to accept the decision of the major four political parties.

The NBA reminded the president that the parties' decision to appoint the chief justice is against the principle of power separations.

After meeting the president, NBA President Karki said the president would not take any steps against the interim constitution. "I assure you that I would move ahead by only using the authority provided to me by the constitution," said Karki quoting the president as telling the NBA delegation.

President Yadav said that he has not done anything against beyond Article 38.1 of the interim constitution. Karki said they urged the president not to take any unconstitutional steps as he is the patron of the constitution.
